Tackling the Bay's rising sea levels

Western Bay of Plenty District Council is taking an innovative approach towards handling rising sea levels and is inviting residents to discuss how the district will deal with an expected one metre rise in the future.

With the intention of formulating an effective long term action plan, maps have been made public for the very first time showing what effects erosion could have on the district in 100 years. Read more

Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) congratulates New Zealand Local Government Funding Agency (LGFA) on its inaugural bond listing on the NZX today, putting in place further transparency for local government finances.

Local Government Funding agency rating reaffirmed by S&P

The Local Government Funding Agency, which sells bonds on behalf of most of New Zealand's local authorities, had its AA+/A-1+ credit ratings affirmed by Standard & Poor's, which cited the likelihood of central government support, strong market position and "exceptional credit quality". The outlook is stable.
