Set LGNZ’s direction

14 October 2025

Stand for National Council

LGNZ is a member-driven organisation. National Council is LGNZ’s governing board: it sets strategy and direction, and monitors LGNZ’s performance. At the start of each triennium, members elect National Council members.

Nominations for zone and sector National Council representatives are now open. Any elected member can stand for these roles if they are part of the relevant sector or zone.

If more than one candidate stands, an election will be held at the relevant sector or zone meeting in November (apart from Zone 5, where any election will be via email).

Stand for Zone or Sector Chair

Each LGNZ zone or sector elects a chair. Sector chairs work with LGNZ to run regular meetings for their sector in Wellington. Zone chairs hold regular meetings in their geographic zone, with guidance available from LGNZ.

You can be both chair of your zone/sector and also that zone/sector’s National Council representative – but chair and NC rep are two separate roles requiring two separate nominations (and elections).
