Scott Necklen

Scott joined LGNZ in 2013 and became the Interim Chief Executive in September 2025. He says, “strong, well-run councils deliver real results for ratepayers and build lasting value for our communities, while dealing with complex challenges. That’s what drives LGNZ.” He enjoys the long-term thinking involved in local government and is motivated by leaving a legacy that future generations can depend on.

Scott's career journey spans multiple industries, from tourism and consulting to education. Before LGNZ, Scott's career took him to Shanghai, where he worked as a business consultant, and to the UK where he worked for the National Trust on a change management programme.
