Land Transport Management (Time of Use Charging) Amendment Bill

LGNZ supports the Land Transport Management (Time of Use Charging) Amendment Bill and welcomes the opportunity to submit. Councils manage most of New Zealand’s transport infrastructure but face growing funding challenges. Time of use charging is a promising tool to better use existing assets, and LGNZ has long advocated for it. We support this legislation, but we would like to see some tweaks to ensure that it preserves local voice and gives councils a greater say in the design, introduction and governance of any time-of-use charging schemes that are introduced.
