2019 regional chairs induction

To introduce elected Regional Chairs (and Deputy Chairs) to their local government role, their key support networks and start the development journey towards being an effective community leader.

After the incredible success and rave reviews of the 2016 Regional Chairs Workshop following the last induction, EquiP is back to support new and re-elected Regional Chairs with this one-day induction workshop.

The date of this workshop is Thursday 7 November. We chose this date to coincide with the New Zealand Rivers Awards dinner in Wellington on that night, and the Regional Sector Meeting on 8 November. If you're coming into the capital for either the awards or the meeting, it would be our pleasure to have you along to our workshop too.

Remember, this is a terrific opportunity to network, learn from best practice, share knowledge and stories, and get a head start on the new triennium.

Workshop outcomes

By the end of this workshop you will have:

  • considered the challenges and opportunities facing regional government and our communities;
  • recognised your own authentic leadership role;
  • considered and started planning to address your region's local issues;
  • reflected on your strategy planning steps;
  • defined key actions to build effective relationships with:
    • your chief executive
    • your elected members
    • your stakeholders; and
  • planned your next steps.
