The EXCELLENCE Awards are open to all of LGNZ's member councils each year. The Awards, now in their eighth year, recognise and celebrate excellent performance by councils in promoting and growing the wellbeing of their communities. Awards are judged on a combination of general and specific criteria.

Awards recipients were announced at the Fulton Hogan conference dinner and LGNZ EXCELLENCE Awards ceremony on Friday 22 July 2022.

The categories for 2022 are as below:

  • EXCELLENCE Award for Cultural Wellbeing;
  • EXCELLENCE Award for Economic Wellbeing;
  • EXCELLENCE Award for Environmental Wellbeing; and
  • EXCELLENCE Award for Social Wellbeing.

The winners of the LGNZ EXCELLENCE Awards 2022 were:
