Freedom camping in Waitaki - Waitaki District Council

Waitaki, a district growing in diversity and opportunity, is also a place of great beauty: mountains and lakes, coastline and valleys. Life’s good in Waitaki. It’s an outdoor recreation fan’s heaven, a place where traffic congestion is a myth. Here, people take their gumboots off before entering the store, lest they have muddy feet, and there’s always time for a natter. Like any small district there are challenges, a future to build and safeguard but Waitakians are hard-working and big-hearted and they’ll get behind a good idea.
