Customer Services Manager Regulatory - Wairoa District Council

The Wairoa District is continuing on its journey of transformation; from the launch of Rocket Lab, their well-renowned internship programme, and the deep cultural elements that the entire District is built upon, this is an opportunity you do not want to pass up to support an energised Council with vision.

The Wairoa District Council is seeking a truly customer-focused manager to lead their Regulatory services, fostering a customer-first approach, enabling community aspirations, while maintaining councils legislative compliance and managing risk.

As the Regulatory champion, you will report directly to the CEO, with responsibility for all regulatory services; building, compliance, planning, regulatory and health. You will be passionate about serving your community, with a deep understanding of your customers’ needs, comfortable interpreting and meeting statutory requirements and providing practical solutions.

You will be charged with developing a customer-focused culture and capability, integrating the wider strategic vision in support of the 4-wellbeings, enabling economic and community development. You will be instrumental in fostering innovation, driving efficiency and effect, and establishing customer-friendly processes and systems.

You will have an affinity with iwi and an appreciation of the cultural elements of the Wairoa District and role model a values-based leadership style that fosters positive can-do attitudes and strengthens tikanga Māori.

You may have previous experience in the local government sector, either a regulatory or planning background, must have good negotiation and mediation skills, and are ready for a management role having gained experience in the public or private sector developing high performing teams.
