Central and local government working together

The 17th Central Government Local Government Forum will be held at Premier House in Wellington on 26 May.

The forum brings together Prime Minister John Key, Cabinet ministers with portfolios relevant to the sector and LGNZ's National Council as leaders in local government.

The 2011 forum is valuable recognition of local government as an equal partner with central government in the governance of New Zealand.

Issues on the table for discussion at the forum include the central government / local government relationship, social development, regulatory reform, infrastructure, economic growth and the Canterbury earthquake legislation.

The forum is an important opportunity for local government leaders to talk with central government decision-makers on how we can make New Zealand a better place together.
