Don't miss the 2011 LGNZ conference
With an innovative and thought-provoking lineup of speakers, the 2011 LGNZ Conference is not one to miss.
The conference, to be held in Wellington from 10-13 July, will bring together over 500 people from the local government sector including mayors, council chief executives, elected members, community leaders and central government decision-makers.
As in previous years, the conference will provide an excellent opportunity for delegates to network with colleagues, specialists, government ministers and speakers.
Confirmed speakers include futurist Melissa Clark-Reynolds, speaking about a green New Zealand future and the role councils can play in this. NZICT chief executive Brett O'Riley will share his thoughts on the potential of ICT to transform cities, communities, regions and lives, and MFAT chief executive John Allen will share his vision for New Zealand Inc.
Other speakers include educator Ngahi Bidois, Peter Cox of SPARC, Industrial Research Limited chief executive Shaun Coffey and Harry Verhaar of Philips Lighting who will present on diverse issues from tikanga Māori and hosting large events to global trends in leadership and civic lighting.
Conference 2011 will also include concurrent workshops addressing topics including spatial planning, digital strategies, global warming and superfast broadband.
Simpson Grierson is again supporting the conference and will be hosting the welcome reception on Sunday 10 July. Fulton Hogan will host the conference dinner, Transpower are supporting the conference brochure and MWH New Zealand will be providing the name badges and pocket programme.
