A new look at co-management and co-governance
Local Government New Zealand has placed a spotlight on co-management agreements between councils and local iwi in a new publication, Local Authorities and Māori.
Local Authorities and Māori, an update of a previous report from 2007, takes in four significant case studies which should help other councils around New Zealand develop their own strategies and plans for working together with Māori authorities in their area.
The report details the different types of arrangements that are currently being used, and looks at how they were developed and how they currently operate.
LGNZ thanks the councils who contributed to this document which should be of great help to the whole sector.
