LGNZ the national voice of local government
Local Government New Zealand is the voice of local government in New Zealand and now boasts 100 per cent membership with the addition of Whangarei District Council to the organisation.
Whangarei District Council councillors voted this week to rejoin LGNZ with the membership effective immediately.
I welcome Whangarei District Council to the organisation at a time when it is important for the local government sector to work together and deliver one strong clear voice to central government.
There are a range of issues LGNZ is looking to advance with central government on behalf of the membership such as questions around funding and infrastructure, economic development and social issues.
With 100 per cent membership LGNZ has a stronger platform to speak on behalf of and advocate for the sector.
As the organisation that represents the national interests of councils in New Zealand LGNZ is the champion of best practice in the local government sector, and provides policy advice and training to councils.
