Voting closes on Saturday 9 October
Time is running out to make your voice heard in this year's local elections. Voting closes at midday on Saturday 9 October and if your voting papers aren't returned by then you'll miss out on making your vote count.
If you haven't received your voting papers you should contact your council's Electoral Officer. And if you're not enrolled, it's not too late - just get an enrolment form filled out and returned to a PostShop by Friday 8 October and you can fill out a special declaration voting form.
These elections are your chance to have a say in how your region will be lead for the next three years and what will happen in your community. A common problem is that people do enrol, and do want to vote, but just don't return their voting papers - don't let it happen to you.
If you're still undecided about who to vote for, remember to check out http://www.elections2010.co.nz/ where candidates are able to post information about their policies and priorities. You can even find out who you're able to vote for just by searching using your home address.
Your council makes decisions that affect your life every single day - rubbish collection, building standards, drinking water, roads. Voting is how you get to decide what kind of council is making those decisions.
Don't miss out.
