KnowHow - new webpages and courses for new members!

A new look for the KnowHow pages has been launched today, tying in with a suite of new courses rolling out after the October local body elections.

The professional development team have been hard at work developing the New Elected Members courses, targeted at mayors, regional chairs and new members in general.  Current elected members don't need to feel left out however as the courses can also be a great refresher for old hands!

In addition to the new courses the KnowHow website pages have had a shakeup to give them a fresh look and make it easier to find your way to the course that suits you.  There's also a new online registration system to streamline the process of getting signed up.

The New Elected Members course covers:

  • basics of local government funding
  • the role of a councilor.

The New Mayors course covers:

  • working with media
  • working with your chief executive
  • legal issues.

The New Chairs course covers:

  • tips for being a successful chair
  • issues facing regional councils
  • updates on hot topics like water management and Treaty settlements.

These courses will be held throughout the country - click here to find out when they're coming to a town near you and get in quick as these are sure to be popular!
