Busy month ahead for Local Government New Zealand
With Conference, the AGM, and our high-level economic development masterclass coming up in just a few weeks, July is shaping up to be a busy time for LGNZ and the local government sector in general.
Conference will be a central event - with its line-up of international speakers, the elections on the horizon and its Auckland location, we're seeing increased numbers on where we were this time last year, which isn't surprising. This is not a conference you want to miss.
Some big issues will be on the table at the LGNZ AGM and we'll be setting the direction for the year ahead. This is a vital part of making sure our membership has a voice, and that voice is heard.
Following conference Greg Clark will be hosting an economic development masterclass in Wellington on Friday 30 July. This one day, practically based event will offer practitioners very good insights into how we can tap the potential of our cities and regions. If you couldn't make it to conference and you're interested in the role local government plays in economic development this could be the event for you.
July is a great time to engage with a huge range of issues facing local government, before the election season really kicks in and we get to the end-of-year wind-down. I'm looking forward to it!
