Sue Thomson passes on
Sadly, Buller District Council Chief Executive Sue Thomson died peacefully at home after a long and brave battle with cancer on Sunday afternoon.
Many in the local government sector will have known this cheerful and tremendous young woman with such an indomitable spirit who is an inspiration to us all. Sue was the youngest chief executive in local government in New Zealand at the time of her appointment three years ago.
"Sue's passing is a great loss to the many friends she made within local government. We will all miss her wonderful drive and enthusiasm," says Basil Morrison, President of Local Government New Zealand.
Our thoughts and prayers are with husband Sean, and daughters Sarah, Anna and their family.
The funeral will be held in Westport on Thursday 21 August at 2.30pm at St Canices Church.
A condolences book has been set up by Buller District Council. If you would like to post a message in this book please send an email to gary@bdc.govt.nz
Please send donations to Cancer Support in lieu of flowers.
