The countdown is on for Methven Community Board members as they prepare to host the 2017 Community Boards Conference in May.
About 240 people from boards throughout New Zealand are expected to converge on the town.
The conference is held nationally every second year, bringing together members of community boards throughout the country, in order to share practice and host the community board awards.
Yesterday, the Methven board held its first meeting of the year, and New Zealand Community Board Executive Committee chairman Mick Lester, a member of the Hastings Rural Community Board, attended.
Lester was excited about the upcoming conference, to be held May 12 and 13, and impressed with the enthusiasm of the hosting board.
“As a national body it makes such a difference to us when we have the host wanting to make the conference as one that people will remember,” Lester said.
Board chairman Dan McLaughlin said the conference would be a good opportunity to highlight the profile of Methven.
