On 21 November 2014, LGNZ entered into an agreement to establish a mechanism of exchange and cooperation of mayors of New Zealand and China with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).
The new sub national agreement supports the existing Free Trade Agreement between China and New Zealand. The focus is a mechanism of exchange and cooperation between mayors of New Zealand and China to operate and implement the mechanism.
The mechanism provides a platform for peer-to-peer exchanges and an opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest, strengthen practical cooperation and enhance friendship between the two sides.
The topics for discussion at the forums include trade and investment opportunities such as education and tourism, people to people exchanges and other topics as appropriate.Register now
