About this training webinar

Conversations are powerful. If there is something we want to say, chances are there is someone who genuinely needs to hear it. Too often we choose the path of safety and give up the possibility of addressing issues that undermine our relationships, limit our productivity, chip away at self-confidence and constrain opportunity.

Dr. William Schutz, behaviour specialist and founder of Human Element Solutions, once said, “If people in business told the truth, 80–90% of their problems would disappear”.

Sometimes referred to as a courageous or crucial conversation, a vital conversation is one where there are varying opinions, strong emotions, and the stakes are high. They’re conversations that are difficult because the topic is unpleasant or difficult to talk about, it involves avoiding or confronting an issue or it’s delivering a difficult message.

Examples of vital conversations could include:

  •       dealing with a particularly difficult person or customer;
  •       having a performance conversation with a boss or team member;
  •       offering constructive feedback to a boss or team member;
  •       communicating boundaries; or
  •       working through conflict issues with team members.
