Community Board Induction

Community Board Induction

In 2016 Equip will provide a series of regional induction workshops for community board members.  These will introduce community board members to their local government role, their key support networks, and start the development journey towards being an effective community representative.  This programme will reference the Good Practice Guide for Community Boards booklet available prior to the election via download from the LGNZ website.

Community Board Induction workshop outcomes:

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  • describe what a community board does;
  • reference key information to build best practice;
  • examine specific community board roles; and
  • build good relationships for community board success.

The Community Board Induction workshops are half-day events.  Participants may choose between the half-day community board-specific option, or the full-day option, which enables participants inclusion in the morning session of the Elected Members Induction programme, which will be delivered concurrently.  This option assists community board members to build sector relationships and knowledge of all roles.

1/2-day option – Community Board workshop and communal lunch

Full-day option – Participation in the EMI morning session and communal lunch, followed by the Community Board workshop in the afternoon.

Community Board Induction workshop delivery is dependent on the achievement of minimum numbers, so please register your interest now.

All dates and locations are the same as the Elected Members Induction workshops, with the exception of Grey District Council, which will not be hosting a Community Board Induction workshop.
