EquiP is LGNZ’s Centre of Excellence and is a Limited Partnership and separate legal entity wholly owned by LGNZ. Its purpose is to deliver tailored services, best practice guidance, business solutions, governance and management support to strengthen the local government sector.
Manager Business Solutions
Steven joined LGNZ as Manager Business Solutions in April 2014 to drive the operational delivery of EquiP, LGNZ’s Centre of Excellence.
From 2008 to 2012 Steven led the establishment of both Health and Clean Technology centres of excellence for Grow Wellington, the region's economic development agency. Working closely with Kapiti Coast District Council from 2009 Steven led the establishment of a Clean Technology Centre, Trust and Park in Otaki, culminating in the role of Establishment CEO of the Clean Technology Trust from mid 2012 to early 2014.
Steven's PhD developed a new theory of indigenisation, using a comparison of a Scottish Celtic (his own background) and a Maori organisation to understand how indigenous knowledge enables organising practices. The PhD won a scholarship from Victoria Management School.
Together with wife Susan, Steven leads a busy life on the Kapiti Coast. With their three girls, they love exploring the underwater treasures of Kapiti Island and the tracks of the Tararuas. Steven is also active in the Kapiti Boating Club and Paraparaumu College Parents’ Association.
Daniel started working at LGNZ in May 2013 in Team support, he then went on to coordinate the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs for two years and has now joined Equip as a consultant.
Daniel’s previous role was at Youthtown, a non-profit organisation set up to enrich the lives of young New Zealanders. He worked at Youthtown for 18 months as a Youth Coordinator and managed a secondary school programme.
Daniel has a strong love for cricket and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Professional Development Manager
Jill began work at LGNZ as the Professional Development Manager in July of 2015. She is responsible for the management and further development of EquiP’s professional development suite of services.
Prior to taking on this role, Jill has spent her career in a variety of customer facing roles before moving into the Learning and Development profession. She brings extensive experience across all development areas including leadership, within both public and private enterprise. Jill also spent a number of years providing appropriate learning solutions for a diverse audience across Oceania and the East.
Jill has two Graduate Diplomas. One in Business with a Training and Development endorsement, and the other in Adult Learning and Teaching, with an endorsement in Distance Learning. Her passion is to match the right solution and delivery method to achieve the identified outcome.
In her spare time, when Jill is not busy with her family and friends, she can be found walking along the beach, at an aerobics class or planning her next travel adventure.
Professional Development Operations
Natasha joined LGNZ in January 2016 in the professional development operations role to coordinate all aspects of Equip’s Professional Development offerings.
Natasha has over 10 years experience in programme co-ordination roles and has previously worked at Ministry of Justice and the New Zealand Transport Agency.
Away from work Natasha spends her time doing volunteer work, photography, Pilates, yoga, and is a very keen traveller.
Digital Media and Marketing Producer
Joseph began work with LGNZ as Digital Media and Marketing Producer in January of 2016 to drive all aspects of the customer service experience and engagement for EquiP, LGNZ’s Centre of Excellence.
Previous to taking this role, Joseph worked across the media, advertising, and music industries, performing roles which saw him live in Beijing, Shenzhen, London, and Melbourne.
Joseph has a Bachelor of Arts from Victoria University, majoring in media, film, international relations, and political science. Outside of work, he is an avid reader, keen traveler, and talented guitar player.
