The South Waikato District Council is seeking a future-focused Chief Executive Officer to provide inspirational leadership, direction, and management of council, providing exceptional service to the community to meet diverse community needs.
The CEO will act as the Council’s key advisor to shape and develop innovative strategies and initiatives that will drive economic and social wellbeing. You will be in charge of developing organisational culture and capability; empowering your team to deliver on the Council’s vision, you will role model values-based leadership that fosters positive can-do attitudes.
You will act as the ambassador for the District, ensuring the Council builds and maintains valued relationships and productive partnerships with key stakeholders while championing and influencing the development of the district and its communities. You will have an affinity with iwi and an appreciation of the cultural elements of the South Waikato District.
Preferred candidates will take pride in their collaborative and empathetic leadership, will value open communication and be driven by a strong service ethos; furthermore you will be a strategic thinker with a can do practical attitude, you will be able to clearly demonstrate commercial acumen, with experience developing and leading high performing teams.
Ideally, you will have a good knowledge of the local government sector and a track record of success in senior management gained in the public or private sector.
The successful candidate will become invested in the community; working to seek out new and existing opportunities in the District.
